Finally, Spring is here! Nice, warm days ahead of us, isn't that amazing? But not everything is perfect. According to studies, we have the highest number of hairs in the telogen phase in July, and a second smaller peak in April. That means that if we don't start taking care of our clients now, we'll see a great loss of natural lashes when summer and fall comes around, so now is the time to prevent seasonal shedding!
Another factor is the change in temperature that can cause a change in hormones, leading to eyelash loss during spring!
"According to research, the major cause of hair loss in spring is due to climate conditions, which affect your hormonal imbalance in the body which in turn affects the stages of hair growth. Under the monopoly of elevated temperatures and sun, this increases the number of hair follicles in the resting phase."
So how can we prevent that? Nothing can compare to taking really good care of your lashes. Here are some tips on how to prevent eyelash extension loss, and give your clients more out of their lash sets.
Today we'll go over 4 simple tips for increasing your client's retention, making their extensions look better longer!
Tip #1 - Thoroughly prep the lashes before sets.
When the natural lashes are clean and free of oils and impurities, your adhesive will have a better bond to the natural lash, making it stay attached to the natural lash for longer. This is why we recommend always cleansing the natural lashes with an extension safe cleanser and priming with a lash primer before starting the application process.

Tip #2 - Understand your adhesive.
Understanding the speed that your adhesive takes to dry, ideal humidity levels, viscosity, and usage of your adhesive, allows you to adjust your environment or adhesive to be compatible with one another. This will guarantee that you get the highest performance and best retention from your adhesive.

Tip #4 - Have a healthy lifestyle.
Yes, a healthy lifestyle. The way we live our lives has a lot of influence on our bodies, how they function, and how they react. The things we eat can make our skin, hair and lashes, have more oils for example, and we know that oils are not good for our extensions. Stress can also make our body react in different ways, we can lose more hair, lose more natural lashes, it can also make us pick more of our lash extensions, damaging the extensions and the natural lashes. Feel free to educate your clients on the correlation between good retention and a healthy lifestyle!
